Where Leaders Meet Leaders

The Washtenaw Economic Club’s mission is to provide speakers of national and international prominence for the cultural, academic and social enlightenment of the community. Founded in 1998, the club’s speaker history boasts a Who’s Who of business and political leaders, journalists, sports figures and other celebrities.

Over 500 members enjoy the opportunity to network, provide client entertainment, offer employee incentives and attend VIP speaker receptions at Washtenaw County’s elite business club. Additional tickets are available to members and are offered for sale to the public when seating is available. The venue accommodates up to 1,000 people.

 

Washtenaw County Business Climate:

The business climate of Washtenaw County is healthy and vibrant. With a population of 340,000 (2003 estimate), the area is projected to add over 34,000 jobs by 2010.

The Ann Arbor area is a major center for educational and entrepreneurial activity in Michigan.

Ann Arbor is the location of the flagship campus of the University of Michigan, among the world’s top institutions of higher learning. Eastern Michigan University, located in nearby Ypsilanti, is vital and thriving. So are the Washtenaw’s other colleges and universities: Concordia University, Cleary University and Washtenaw Community College.

The region is a growing hub for technology and life science companies, with over 300 information technology companies located in the county and close proximity to the Detroit marketplace is a very important contributor to our economic engine.

Washtenaw County has the nation’s highest rate of business start-ups per capita.

Washtenaw County is home to small and midsize businesses as well as major corporations such as Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Toyota Technical Center USA, Hyundai American Technical Center, Pfizer Global Research and Development, and General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems Division. Bosal has recently broken ground to build their North American Headquarters here, and Google has committed to bringing approximately 1000 employees to the community in the near future.

Domino’s Pizza and Border’s Books and Music corporate headquarters are also located in Washtenaw County.

Health Care Systems in Washtenaw County are nationally recognized for providing excellence in patient care, medical education and research.
